About Me

When I started my blog, my goal was really to focus on fitness, hence the name Fit Talker (a play on words from sh*t talker).  However the blog has changed quite a bit over the years.

Some degree of fitness was always involved, but the focus varied.

I got certified as a Spinning instructor in August 2009 and for the longest time, this was a spinning blog.  I used it as a place to share my playlists and class profiles.  Now, thanks to Facebook Groups and services like Spotify, it’s easy to share music and profiles, so that fell off the blog.

Then it was just general fitness.  Then about me getting back in shape.

Then it was about my training for my first half marathon, which I completed in October 2015.


And right now it’s become more of a running blog.  I seriously NEVER would have guessed that I’d ever write about running.

I still don’t consider myself a runner.  I’m working on being a runner, but it’s going to take some time.  I’m not fast.  I might never be fast, but that’s OK.  I’ll still work to improve my times, but I’ll probably never break 9 minutes (if that!)

You probably didn’t click on “About Me” to learn about the blog, but more likely the person behind it.  So here’s a little about me.

I live in CT.  I’m originally from NY but moved here 8 years ago (holy cow!).  I live with my boyfriend and our (most amazing) dog, Minnie.  I am completely and totally obsessed with Minnie, and love dogs in general.  She’s a pitbull and so I’ve unofficially become a breed ambassador trying to teach people the truth behind the breed.

My full time job is in product management, my part time job is teaching spinning.  My boyfriend has a pizza trailer (similar to a food truck) and that has unofficially become another non-paying part time job.

I love food.  I love to travel.  I love to bake (but not really cook).  I’ve always loved to workout, even when I couldn’t find the time or motivation.  I’m very much a type A organized, structured type of person and want to work on being more spontaneous.

    I came across your blog while looking for fitness bloggers in the area yesterday. I was so excited to see that you’re from Norwalk and you blog about fitness! On June 15th St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is hosting yogathons, called Yoga Gives to St. Jude Kids, at participating yoga studios nationwide to support the St. Jude mission of finding cures and saving children. Locally, we will be holding an 8-hour event taking place at the Saraswati’s Yoga Joint in Norwalk, Connecticut.

    I thought this event might be of interest to you. There is no registration fee, but participants are encouraged to raise $250. All participants receive a water bottle for registering, with additional incentives for meeting fundraising goals (such as a yoga strap and mat).   3. Hi Jessica! I, too, live in Norwalk and am just getting back into the swing of things at the gym… I was curious where you spin? I used to be a member of Intensity and am now at the Edge – I LOVED spinning at Intensity, but haven’t found an instructor I like at the Edge (yet!). Would love to try your class if you’re local!

    1. Hi Leigh!! So glad you found the blog.
      I teach at NYSC in Stamford. I’ve actually been trying to get in to the Edge for years with no luck. Although maybe that’s not a bad thing since I’ve heard they won’t let you teach anywhere else.
      I belong to the Edge as well and also haven’t had any luck finding an instructor I like.
      I’d love for you to be my guest at a class. I’ll send you an email with more details. 🙂

  4. Really?! KEEP TRYING!!!! They just “acquired” another Intensity defector, Christina, who is a spin instructor. I don’t know about the whole not-letting-you-instruct-elsewhere thing. One of my old personal trainers teaches group fitness at the Edge, and I am almost 100% sure she still teaches at Equinox! Might be worth looking into again??
